... led a mission team from Good Shepherd Baptist Church to Dominica

December 27, 2005 - January 6, 2006.

Mission team members were up early AM December 27th, 2005.  They left the motel at 4:15 on a bus to the airport in order to check all 26 bags filled with donated items and board their flight to Dominica.  Front Row L-R:  Matt Havens, Gaynell Larsen KK4WWW, Maria Whitmore, Christian Cromer, Anna Marie Ball, Dee Dannewitz KG4VMI, and Dawn Bane.  Back Row L-R:  Kermit Ball, David Larsen KK4WW, Pastor Matthew Kirkland, Dr. Norris Lewis, Cheryl and Doug Altis.

FAIRS worked with Good Shepherd team members, with Dominica Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (DARCI), the local government and medical personnel to help supply known needs of the island and do some volunteering.

Together we hosted a rally for young people - HIGH FREQUENCY YOUTH FUN DAY - at Lindo Park in Goodwill Friday, Dec. 30th.  The day was intended to encourage the young folks in their faith, to help them understand the valuable role of amateur radio in their community, and to offer help with their personal goals.

Other Christian mission activities included street witnessing, working with student programs in Castle Bruce, and a visit to the Carib Indians.  Everyone cooperated to do service work, and increase the resources of the various groups focused on positively influencing Dominica’s young people (Christian education and food for families, etc.).
